New York Fashion Week: Spring 2014

Considering it has been quite a while since I have posted you would think that I have an excuse, but in all honesty I don’t. With school kicking into gear I have found myself caught up in school work, and when I don’t have school work all I want to do is relax. However, now that I am going to school in the city, I am finding myself in absolute fashion bliss.

If you didn’t know I live in Colorado, and while it appeared like the state was up in flames at the beginning of the summer, now it seems like it is going to become an ocean. The Colorado floods have been quite an experience, but I have been fortunate enough to not be living in an area where a lot of damage took place. Once the major rain was done I took the opportunity to go splash in puddles because that is something I did not want to miss. The amount of devastation left behind by these floods is heartbreaking, and I am still trying to grasp all the damage done. However, you must remember, “There are positives in every situation, but it is up to you to find them.”

While Colorado began to flood, one of my favorite events was occurring in New York. Can you guess what it is? That’s right, Fashion Week. While I have yet to attend, I WILL attend one day, and nothing is going to stop me. Since it is one of my favorite events, I decided to make it fashion week on my blog. So every day I will be posting about something pertaining to New York Fashion Week, Spring 2014. Since I am still not able to choose my favorite shows, I am going to start off by writing about my two favorite presentations. Red Valentino and Kate Spade New York absolutely blew me away, and I would sell my entire wardrobe just to own the clothes from them.

Deborah Lloyd keeps amazing me with the designs she presents for Kate Spade New York, and I have yet to be disappointed. From top to toe I am in love with the collection, and I just wish that I could have every single piece! The presentation, being grouped by color, was gorgeous and simplistic, which only makes me love the collection more.

While overall I love everything, there are some items that I am head over heels for. The outfit with orange jacket and watercolor pants still makes me drool every time I see it. While each individual piece is quite simple, together they make an outfit that is show stopping. The bow on the jacket makes me reminisce of when I was younger, and had to have a bow in my hair.  Adding to the outfit is a simple oxford, which you can never go wrong with. I have been searching for the perfect pair of sneakers, and the studded pair seems to be exactly what I am looking for. Can I just have the whole thing please?

Black and white is the perfect combination hands down. No ifs, ands, or buts. Add a bit of Parisian elegance to the combination and you have reached perfection. These are just a few of the reasons I love the classic black and with ensemble presented. I have a minor obsession with fascinators, and while I am not the biggest fan of stripes, this outfit is to die for. The clutch is a must have, and I might make it the splurge for my spring wardrobe. I think I might die without it.

The outfits with the lemon print are definitely my favorite group. They are just so cheerful looking, and the styling for each outfit is perfection.  The lemon printed top paired with the white shorts is so simple, and the hat is the perfect accessory to top off the outfit. While I am not sure I could pull off the lemon printed dress, I could definitely pull off the sneakers paired with it. I would get a smile on my face every time I looked down at my feet if I wore those. As for the lemon printed skirt with the sunny yellow top, I would wear that on every cloudy day. Not to be forgotten are the yellow patent leather heels with the gold chain detailing, hello gorgeous! The jewelry and handbags overall are darling, and I would own each and every one of them.

I only became aware of Red Valentino, and boy have I been missing out. The Spring 2014 collection is one of the most feminine and delicate collections I have seen, and it was love at first sight when I saw it. Just like the Kate Spade New York collection, I want it all. The floral printed jacket and shorts paired with the simple peplum top is beautiful. The floral print is so delicate, yet it has a great punch of color. Where can I sign up to have the print made into wallpaper?

As many of you know, I am not the biggest fan of leggings, but Red Valentino makes me want to be, especially when they are paired with a gorgeous ballerina-esque peplum top. The ruffled peplum, which looks very similar to a tutu, is so delicate, and I love it. As I look closer at this outfit it seems that it might actually be a leotard with a skirt over top. Anybody know which it is?

The floral printed button down dress has to be one of the prettiest dresses I have ever seen. The fuller skirt gives it a bit a softness, while the collar gives it a bit of structure. The bright colors of the floral print are lovely, and I want this pattern as wallpaper too! The simple bow belt adds even more femininity to the outfit, and tops the dress of perfectly.

These two presentation have left me questioning whether I should sell my wardrobe, which means that they are amazing. I would do anything to own a single piece from either of these presentations! Come back tomorrow to see even more things that I loved from New York Fashion Week. Until tomorrow…

Fashionately,
Sarah
