Accessorize Your Life

Giorgio Armani once said “Accessories are important and becoming more and more important every day. They can completely change the look of an outfit, and women like the idea of having a wardrobe that's versatile” and boy was he right. No outfit is complete without a few accessories, but that doesn’t mean stack bracelets up to your elbows. Since accessories are such a big part of fashion and spring is just getting started, I figured it was only right to talk about what accessories are perfect for adding some pizazz to your spring wardrobe.

Looks like everyone is becoming believers in the phrase “opposites attract”considering the color combo of black and white is trending in both clothes and accessories. The color combo is such a classic that it is always in style, but now more than ever it is making a statement. From bags to shoes, it seems that people just can’t get enough, including me. You can take a black and white bag, like the one from Marc Jacobs, and either pair it with more black and white or make it a statement piece and wear it with a colored outfit. A great thing about this trend is that it matches everything, which means you will get a lot of use out of any black and white accessory you choose to add into your spring wardrobe.

This next trend is totes amaze….I honestly hate when people say  that, but since totes are trendy I felt that it was fitting. Now I love a good tote, but there are some definite positives and negatives about them. A positive is that you can fit everything in it. A negative is that you can fit everything in it. It seems to be a win-lose situation because I love being able to carry quite a few things around in my tote, but the second I need one of those objects it becomes impossible to find. Totes are fantastic, but someone should do something about them turning into a black hole whenever you need to find something. However, I still own many totes and you should to because they are always nice to have around and add a great touch to any outfit. To take you tote from average to trendy, purchase a structured one. I like the structured ones quite a bit more than their opposite, but I have yet to purchase one. I definitely will though considering how many great ones there are!

I would have to say this next trend is quite transparent, and I actually mean it. Whether you want a see through bag or a pair of clear heels, this trend has got you covered. I am not sure how I feel about this because if you had a pair of clear shoes couldn’t everyone see how sweaty your feet are? Also I don’t have the prettiest feet so I don’t plan on purchasing transparent shoes anytime soon. A few years ago I saw a transparent bag and wanted one so bad, but it cost over $100, and I was not paying that. Now there are so many clear bags made not only by well-known designers like Stella McCartney, but in stores like Forever 21. Along with purses and shoes are bracelets and rings, which I quite like. I think they add a bit of spunk to your outfit, and I am all for a bit of spunk.

Trends aren’t just for fashion, but for our wellbeing as well. Oversized sunglasses not only make a statement, but also protect a lot of the skin around our eyes from sun damage. It is so nice to see that the fashion industry cares about us in that way. Whether or not this is the actual reason oversized sunglasses are trending I don’t care. As you saw in my last post “Spring Break Haul” I bought a pair of cat eye sunglasses that I am now wearing every single day. I absolutely love them because they are quite adorable and edgy all at the same time. I highly advise that everyone get a pair of oversized sunglasses because once you have you won’t want to lose them. While I love the cat eye shape, there are so many other shapes as well, and I am sure there is one for every shape of face. Buy a pair and you won’t regret it! Also, I really want both of these pairs soooooo so so bad!

Statement pieces are a big deal right now. This trend is focused on rings and necklaces, and the more attention-grabbing the better. I have been searching everywhere for the perfect statement necklace, and although I haven’t found one yet I am not giving up. I found the cutest ring on Pinterest, but I know it is expensive (I am too scared to look at the actual price), so I am going to continue admiring it through a screen. If you like chunky beads, this trend is for you. If you like feathers, this trend is for you. If you like sparkles, this trend is for you. With statement pieces anything goes. The trick is that you have to make the necklace or ring the focus of your outfit, and not the clothes themselves. To pull off a statement piece you need to keep your outfit basic and build around the necklace or ring. I love this trend and don’t see it going anywhere anytime soon.

These are just a few of my favorite spring accessory trends, and there are many more. If you have been looking for the perfect accessory for your wardrobe, I hope this post helps you out. Until next time…
Fashionately,
Sarah
